Former Rangers star Lee McCulloch believes the Ibrox side are playing Spurs at a “great” time and fans will be demanding a positive result on Thursday.
The sides meet in the Europa League on contrasting runs of form, with Rangers following up a 4-1 win in Nice with victories over St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Ross County.
Ange Postecoglou is feeling the heat in London after Spurs lost 4-3 to Chelsea to stretch their winless run to four games.
McCulloch acknowledged the ability Postecoglou’s side carry but said it was the right time to be meeting them.
“They’re playing against a team that’s in arguably the best league in the world,” he said. “They’ve got some tremendous individual players.
“But they are under a bit of pressure just now.
“So as much as we’re saying it’s good timing for us because this is arguably the highest part of our season so far, it’s also arguably the lowest part of their season.
“I think it’s a great time to get them.”
Spurs travel to Glasgow as favourites but McCulloch thinks that in a packed Ibrox Stadium, the expectation will be on Rangers to deliver a memorable result.
“It will be a great experience for the players against that standard of opposition,” he added.
“But when you’re a Rangers player then expectations are there every time you step on to the pitch.
“So the fans will be demanding a positive result.”
