Kyogo Furuhashi scored a double as Celtic eased past St Mirren in Glasgow on Wednesday night.

The Paisley side remain the only Scottish side to beat the Premiership league leaders this season but a repeat of that result never looked likely as the Hoops continued on their quest for a second league title in a row with a 4-0 victory.

The Japan forward continued his red hot recent form and increased his tally for the season to 18 with the league leaders scoring two goals without reply in each half.

Liel Abada put Celtic ahead on the 14th minute mark when he was the first to react to a rebounded effort from debutant Yuki Kobayashi that hit the post.

Kyogo then added to his goal tally for the season with a cute lob over St Mirren goalkeeper Trevor Carson and double the lead ten minutes from half-time.

The goal was his 17th of the season in all competitions as he put Celtic 2-0 up and firmly in the driving seat.

And he made it 3-0 on the other end of half-time when he turned in a cross from Jota on the 55th minute.

The goal was initially ruled out for offside but a VAR check showed the forward when just onside when he put the ball past Carson and game past St Mirren.

James Forrest then thought he had made it 4-0 but this time VAR decided Kyogo strayed marginally offside before cutting it back to the veteran winger.

And his fellow sub David Turnbull made it four with two minutes remaining on the clock to put icing on the cake for Ange Postecoglou’s champions.
