Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes called for his players to aim for perfection without the ball and show confidence on it when they travel to Ibrox.
Rangers will go into Wednesday’s game 11 points adrift of Premiership leaders Celtic after a series of setbacks including defeat against Killie at Rugby Park.
But they are performing well in the Europa League with last week’s 4-1 win over Nice in France putting them into the top eight.
McInnes said: “We have got to try and reference a lot of what we did (at Rugby Park) not so long ago. It’s a totally different environment and a totally different set of circumstances but the game is still the game.
“As good as we were individually you almost need to be perfect out of possession when you’re playing a team of Rangers’ quality.
“They have shown what they are capable of, particularly in Europe. We are well aware that Rangers have players that if given time and space, if you afford good players the chance to really enjoy the game, then they can have that impact.
“You don’t see it all the time but they have certainly got that.”
McInnes added: “We have also got to demonstrate a confidence. We have won at Hearts a few weeks back, beaten Rangers already. The players have got to go on the pitch feeling confident with our work. Because if you are not confident with your work, then there’s only going to be one outcome.”
