Kevin Nisbet jumped at the chance to sign for Aberdeen as he is confident he will score goals at Pittodrie.

The 27-year-old made his debut off the bench against Kilmarnock last weekend and is aiming for his first start when the Dons bid to make it nine consecutive wins under Jimmy Thelin when they face Ross County in Dingwall on Saturday.

Nisbet signed for Millwall last summer after prolific spells with Raith Rovers, Dunfermline and Hibernian, but returned to the William Hill Premiership on a season-long loan after scoring five goals for the Lions.

“I just thought I need to get back playing, back playing regular, back scoring goals,” he said.

“Aberdeen was the only place I wanted to go. I think you see how the gaffer wants to play, I think it suits me as well. I think I’ll score goals in this team, so that’s why I chose Aberdeen.

“There were other options. There were some options down south, options up here as well. But as soon as I heard Aberdeen were interested, it was just a case of ‘let’s just get it done’.”

The Scotland international is yet to score in 2024 after missing three months through injury and believes one goal will lead to another.

“I feel if I get chances here then I will score goals,” he said.

“I think I’m confident all the time. I think as a striker you need to be. If you’re going to miss 10 chances in a row, you need to be confident you’re going to take the next one because all it takes is one or two goals and you’re going to run. I think I’ve got a lot of confidence in myself so I’m happy with that.

“Of course, if a team’s confident and playing well then we’re going to get a lot more chances.”
