John Higgins cruised through on home soil, beating He Guoqiang 4-1, while Liam Graham, who received a bye into the last 64 after Ronnie O’Sullivan’s withdrawal, progressed further by beating Ben Mertens 4-2.
Mark Selby beat Matthew Stevens 4-3 in a late-night finish, taking the deciding frame with a 64 – his third break in the 60s to go with a 115 in frame two.
