John Fleck faces missing Scotland play-off with injury

The Sheffield United midfielder could be on the sidelines for four to six weeks with a back injury.

Scotland midfielder John Fleck is a huge injury doubt for the Euro 2020 play-off final.

Fleck will be out for between four and six weeks with a back problem, his club Sheffield United said.

Scotland will play the crucial qualifier in Serbia on November 12.

Blades boss Chris Wilder said: “John was down to play [on Sunday v Fulham], it’s another unfortunate injury. He suffered one of those injuries you don’t get 99 times out of 100.

“Speaking to the medical people, how unfortunate he was to land on such a small place on his back to do the damage that he has done is so unlucky.

“It will be four to six weeks and it’s another blow that we have to take on the chin.”
