Joe Westley has warned Dundee will be a “force to be reckoned with” once they build on their first win and further cement relationships within the squad.
Westley netted his first goal since his summer move from Burnley as Dundee beat Livingston 3-2 last weekend.
It was a first William Hill Premiership win under Steven Pressley and moved the club into the top six.
Pressley came under fire after exiting the Premier Sports Cup following defeats by Airdrie and Alloa but Dundee have already held their own in the league while integrating a number of new players.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s trip to face St Mirren, Westley said: “When you get a lot of new faces in a group it can take a little bit of time for players to get to know each other and how different players like to play.
“But, training every day with each other, you get to know the players better and relationships start to click.
“Once it clicks, I think we will be a force to be reckoned with. We have got a lot of quality throughout the squad and once that all comes together I think we will be dangerous.
“To get that first win of the season was massive for confidence and for us to carry a bit of momentum now into the weekend.”
Westley got off the mark as a Dundee player against Livingston and feels he can build on the landmark.
“It was a nice one to get,” said the 20-year-old, who scored three goals on loan with Swindon in the second half of last season.
“When you have got that first one looming over you, to get it out the way, has given me a lot of confidence. I have got to take it into the weekend now and get the next one.”
