Jimmy Thelin is excited by the number of different goal threats his in-form Aberdeen side have as they bid to make it eight victories in a row against Kilmarnock on Sunday.

The Dons have won every game they have played under the Swede in the Premier Sports Cup and William Hill Premiership this term, scoring 21 times along the way.

Aberdeen have had to contend with the club record sale of Bojan Miovski – who scored 44 goals in two seasons – to Girona recently, but manager Thelin has been heartened by the sight of 13 different players finding the net already this term.

“I’m really happy that we’ve had so many different goalscorers, we’ve had 13,” he said. “We can have threats from different areas of the pitch. But I am also happy with how we win, how we defend together, how we fight for clean sheets.

“But still it’s only the early part of the season. We have only played two league games. We have to stay focused.”

Aberdeen won only seven of their 19 league games at Pittodrie last term, but they have won all four home games this season, something Thelin wants to build on against Killie this weekend.

“Kilmarnock have a good manager and they are a strong, physical team,” he said. “We respect our opponents but we have to focus on the things we do and be ready.

“At home you always want to be strong and create a positive atmosphere with the fans. I do not look so much at what has happened in the past, I always look towards the future.

“It’s about where we are right now and what we are trying to build. To bring success, we have to stay strong even if we hit rough waters.”
