Jeremy Bokila has spoken to SFA lawyers over alleged racism – Livingston boss

The striker allegedly suffered racial abuse in last month’s match against Aberdeen

Livingston boss Marvin Bartley revealed that lawyers from the Scottish Football Association had spoken with Jeremy Bokila this week regarding an allegation that he suffered racial abuse in last month’s match against Aberdeen.

The 37-year-old striker was sent off for his part in an-off-the-ball incident in the 6-2 William Hill Premiership defeat at Pittodrie on January 24, the fixture in which the incident was claimed to have occurred.

Former Livi boss David Martindale said after the match that Bokila was in tears in the dressing room and then revealed a few days later at a press conference that the matter was being investigated by the SFA.

Providing a fresh update at a pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s visit from Rangers, current Lions manager Bartley said on Thursday: “The lawyers were in yesterday to speak to Bokila, so that’s the current situation with it.

“The lawyers have been up to Aberdeen, they’ve been in here. They’ve spoken to the people they need to speak to.

“I think Bokila was the last one because he was away the last time they came in here, so it’s kind of over to them now.

“As a football club and as a manager, we’re there with him every step of the way. He has the full support of the club, the staff, the players.”

Aberdeen issued a statement shortly after the match last month, saying: “The club is aware of an allegation that racist language was used during today’s match with Livingston FC at Pittodrie.

“The player concerned has been informed of the allegation and vehemently denies it.”
