Scottish badminton star Kirsty Gilmour is delighted to be part of Team GB for a third consecutive Olympic Games after being chosen for the Paris event.
The 30-year-old from Bellshill, who won silver at the European Championships, will be on the hunt for more medals in France this summer.
Gilmour also won silver when she represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and she is keen to add to her haul this summer.
In her previous two Olympics she has fell at the group stage but with more years of experience behind she is confident she can make more of an impact this time around.
She said: “It feels pretty nice. Yeah, it never, you never lose the shine. It’s just as exciting third time round as it was first time round.
“For this to be my third Olympic Games, I think I know myself as an athlete even better than I did in Rio, certainly it’s so much more than just the choices that you make on the court and the shots that you choose to hit and how you choose to hit them.”
Gilmour also feels less time spent on social media will help her find her best form in the games, that will run from July 26 until August 11.
And she also refuses to rule out making to a fourth Olympic Games when Los Angeles hosts the event in 2028.
She said: “It’s the, did you choose to not go on Instagram? I probably lost the Commonwealth Games final in Glasgow because I spent too long looking at how amazing I was on Twitter.
“And yeah, just to know yourself better and to discipline yourself in the correct way is so, so important. You know, there are some bad days where I think how much longer can I do this?
“Like I say, I’m 30, but I still love turning up here most days, and as long as it stays to most days, then we’ll keep going for as long as possible.
“But right now, LA’s not outwith the realms of possibility.”
