Motherwell have confirmed that attacker Sam Nicholson faces an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury.
Manager Stuart Kettlewell had revealed at the weekend that Nicholson was expected to be out for a while but the club have now provided details, saying that he has suffered a patella-related injury that will see him miss “several months”.
The news comes after a hamstring injury to Filp Stuparevic, and with Callum Slattery and Harry Paton both out until late in the year.
“This is a really frustrating situation for both club and player,” Kettlewell said.
“I’ve spoken with Sam and will ensure he is full supported during this lay off. He is gutted that he is having to miss more games after working so hard to get back fit.
“From a club point of view, it’s another blow. Our injury list isn’t getting shorter and we’ve now got one less option in the forward areas.
“We’ll look to see if we can bring in some fresh blood to try and cope with the situation.”
