Connor Barron admits it’s been disappointing not to have won anything in his first season at Rangers but says he’s learned a lot playing through a challenging time.
Barron made the move to Ibrox from Aberdeen last summer on a free transfer, and quickly established himself as a first team regular in Philippe Clement’s side.
The team struggled in domestic competitions though, with Clement paying the price and being replaced by Barry Ferguson on a short-term contract. Rangers will finish the season without silverware as they prepare for a summer of change, but Barron was inclined to look on the difficulties as a learning experience.
“Obviously, it’s disappointing to not be as successful as I would have liked to have been in my first season, and have a few trophies,” he said.
“But you learn a lot and carry that with you. You learn from the challenges. As a player of my age it’s good to take everything in.”
The 22-year-old and his team-mates will sign off for the season after Saturday’s match at Easter Road, and are likely to return for pre-season to a club under new ownership, and with a new manager in place.
Asked if there was uncertainty about how he would fit in under a new coaching team, Barron shrugged it off and said that it was part of the game.
“That’s football,” he said. “That’s what happens.
“I’ve been in the game a while and went through lots of managers in my time at Aberdeen. You’ve just got to do what you can as a player and be the best every day.
“What will happen will happen but you’ve got to put yourself in the best possible situation every day in training.”
