Hibernian have made their second summer signing, adding midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes to their squad for the new season.
The 22-year-old caught the eye at St Mirren last season and was close to joining Dundee United but Hibs have landed the versatile player.
Doyle-Hayes, who will join Jack Ross’ squad immediately and head south to their training camp in England next week, says he has joined a group of players who can make a mark next season.
“I saw the club last season and played against them and the players they have should be competing for ‘medals’ all the time,” he said. “The expectation of the club is to be challenging for them and I think that’s really good.”
Deployed as a defensive midfielder by Jim Goodwin in Paisley last season, Doyle-Hayes says he can show more of his game if asked to get forward into attacking areas with his new side.
“I enjoy both sides of the game,” he told the club’s official website. “I enjoy digging in and defending and helping the back four, but I also like chipping in with a few assists and maybe a couple of goals if I am lucky.”
