Hibernian sign goalkeeper Jordan Smith following Jojo Wollacott exit

The 29-year-old has joined Hibs on a two-year contract after a season at Stockport.

Hibernian have signed former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Jordan Smith after allowing Jojo Wollacott to return to England.

The 29-year-old has joined Hibs on a two-year contract after a season at Stockport, where he played five times.

Smith joined County from Forest where he made 54 appearances and also featured on loan spells with Mansfield and Barnsley.

Head coach David Gray said: “He is a player with good experience playing at a high level in the English Championship and has strong pedigree and high standards having spent over 20 years at Nottingham Forest.

“He will provide healthy competition with Joe (Bursik) and Max (Boruc) in the goalkeeping department and we are all excited to work with him.”

Wollacott earlier left to sign for Sky Bet League One side Crawley. The 27-year-old former Swindon and Charlton player made eight appearances after joining Hibs last summer.

Hibs sporting director Malky Mackay said: “Unfortunately, we couldn’t guarantee Jojo as much game time as he would like, we agreed it was best for him to continue his career down south, in a league that he knows well.”
