Hibernian have completed the signing of veteran striker Adam Le Fondre ahead of the new season.
Le Fondre has signed a one-year deal, with the Easter Road club holding an option to extend his stay if he proves to be a success in the Premiership.
The 36-year-old has played for 12 clubs in his career so far, including Reading, where he played under Hibs director of football Brian McDermott and helped the Royals to the Championship title.
In his 694 career appearances, Le Fondre has scored 273 goals, and he won the A-League twice with most recent club Sydney FC.
Hibernian manager Lee Johnson told the club website: “Adam brings craft to our new front-line and his experience and nous in the game will help develop our younger strikers.
“Throughout his career he has a proven goal scoring record and physically he’s in good shape. We look forward to working with him.”
Le Fondre’s arrival comes after Scotland international striker Kevin Nisbet left Hibs for Millwall and the club have moved quickly to replace him.
Last year, Le Fondre used his social media account to share a message he had received from McDermott after he signed for Sydney.
It read: “Just been watching you play. What can I say, class is permanent. Brilliant to see you still looking and playing so well.
“Ten years ago you were part of something which will never be forgotten by Reading fans. I never got the chance to say thank you for everything you did for me and for our team.
“Without doubt, you were the most selfless person, team player I have ever worked with. Not only a great player but a great guy. Hope all’s well with the family too.”
