Hibernian have been handed a difficult draw in Europa League qualifying after being paired with FC Midtjylland of Denmark.

Hibs qualified for Europe after a strong second half to the season saw them climb to a third-place finish in the Premiership.

Their reward was a place in the second qualifying round of the Europa League, three knock-out ties from the group stage.

And they face a tough tie to begin with, against a Midtjylland side that finished just one point behind title-winners FC Copenhagen in last year’s Danish League.

David Gray’s side will travel to Denmark to play the first leg at the MCH Arena on July 24, with the return match at Easter Road a week later.

They’ll now look to progress in Europe’s second-tier competition but know they will have the consolation of a place in the play-off round of the Conference League if they fail at the first stage.
