Harry Milne has seen his decision to become a full-time footballer pay off handsomely after completing his journey from the Highland League all the way up to the top flight.
The left-back helped Cove Rangers climb from non-league right the way through to the Championship and he has now joined Hearts from Partick Thistle on an 18-month deal.
Milne told Hearts TV: “I didn’t really want to go full-time for a long time. When I was doing my degree, I thought I could get a good job and make a good part-time wage. But then I fell back in love with football and worked hard to get to where I’ve got to.
“The kind of player that takes nothing for granted. I know where I’ve come from. I’ve come up from the Highland League and worked my way up.
“But I’ve got here by listening to all my coaches, listening to more experienced pros, taking advice. Don’t make the same mistake again. I feel like I’ve deserved to be where I am. I’ve made a lot of sacrifices to do this. I’m just buzzing that it’s finally come to fruition.
“I think the opportunity to come to the top division in the country would be too good to turn down, never mind to one of the biggest clubs in the country. For me, absolutely a no-brainer.
“Obviously, I had a great time at Thistle, and I respect all the fans, the staff and the players and everyone who helped me. I think they agree with me that it was time to move on and I’m at a level now where I think I can excel in the Prem.”
