Hearts have signed Yan Dhanda on a pre-contract deal from Ross County.
The 25-year-old midfielder will move to Tynecastle in the summer when his contract comes to an end.
Dhanda has been a key player for the Highland side this season and has scored two goals in 20 league appearances so far.
He has also captained the side in recent weeks in the absence of Jack Baldwin.
Hearts have until Thursday to agree a deal with County if they want to bring him into Steven Naismith’s squad for the remainder of this season.
The club are also in talks with Livingston’s James Penrice over another potential pre-contract move.
The defender, whose contract expires in the summer, has made 29 appearances for David Martindale’s side this season.
Hearts face a trip to Dundee on Saturday as they look to cement their third-place position in the Premiership.
They currently sit ten points ahead of fourth placed Kilmarnock and ten points behind second placed Rangers and also remain in the Scottish Cup where they will take on Airdrie in the last-16 next month.
