Liam Boyce has agreed terms to join Hearts and could make his debut against Rangers on Sunday.
The striker will travel to Saturday to complete paperwork on his move after agreeing terms to join Daniel Stendel’s side.
A fee of around £150,000 will be paid to Burton Albion and Boyce will sign a contract that runs until the summer of 2023.
Two other clubs also had bids accepted for Boyce but Hearts have the deal over the line and Stendel has improved his attacking options with a player who made his mark in Scottish football during a prolific spell at Ross County before heading south.
Boyce, 28, was entering the final six months of his contract at Albion and could have left the English League One side for nothing at the end of the season.
The forward has netted 14 goals in 34 outings for The Brewers this season. He scored 55 goals in 115 appearances for Ross County between 2014 and 2017.
At his pre-match media conference on Friday, Hearts boss Daniel Stendel said he was optimistic of signing two players before Sunday’s game against Rangers.
“I hope so,” he said. “We can talk about players when they sign a contract and I have no news at the moment.
“I expect that maybe one or two players sign a contract in the next time. You can see, especially in the last third, we need some different players.”
