Hearts have announced the signing of Andres Salazar on a season-long loan from Atletico Nacional.
The Colombian international left-back will spend the season at Tynecastle and bolster head coach Steven Naismith’s squad for their challenges in domestic competition and in Europe.
Hearts have been working on a deal to sign the highly-rated 21-year-old for some time and have now secured his signature, subject to gaining a visa and Scottish FA approval.
Salazar came through the youth system at Atletico Nacional and, after initial loan spells to gain experience, became part of their first team squad last year. He enjoyed success with his club and gained his first international cap, having previously played for Colombia at Under-20 level in the South American Games, South American Championship and Under-20 World Cup.
Naismith said: “A lot of hard work has gone into making this deal possible so I’m happy that it’s now over the line.
“In Andres we’re getting a quality player with loads of experience, despite his young age.
“He’s played domestic, continental and international football so he’ll bring that knowledge to the dressing room.
“His talent means there will be healthy competition amongst the squad for a place in the starting line-up, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
