Hearts have announced the signing of German goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow, who was a free agent after leaving Union Berlin.
The experienced keeper, who has more than 200 Bundesliga appearances in his long career, has signed a two-year deal at Tynecastle.
Schwolow will now compete to be the established first choice at Tynecastle, with veteran Craig Gordon out injured and Scotland’s Zander Clark not having been at top form so far this season.
Schowlow began his career at Freiburg and made his debut in 2014, winning promotions in successive seasons, first with Arminia Bielefeld on loan and then with his parent club.
After four years at Freiburg, Schwolow had two years at Hertha Berlin and a year at Schalke before moving to Union Berlin. With Union, he was part of the squad that reached the Champions League.
The goalkeeper is expected to get visa approval, Scottish FA approval and international clearance and to be available to manager Derek McInnes after the international break.
