Scotland’s World Cup opponents Haiti warmed up with a thumping 4-0 friendly win over New Zealand in Florida on Tuesday.

The Haitians stunned the All Whites and sent a warning to Steve Clarke’s men ahead of their World Cup opener, with goals from Ruben Providence, Lenny Joseph, Frantzdy Pierrot and Duke Lacroix in Fort Lauderdale.

Sebastian Migne’s men, whose last appearance at a World Cup came in 1974, face Scotland in Boston in just 10 days’ time.

The team ranked 82nd in the world, opened the scoring through Providence on 12 minutes before adding three further strikes in the second half at the Inter Miami stadium.

They will face Peru in their final friendly match on Saturday before the World Cup.

It’s as Scotland attacker Ryan Christie says they can underestimate Haiti at their peril.

The Scots are 39 places above the Caribbean side in the FIFA rankings but Christie says the gap will not matter in their group C opener.

Christie told Sky Sports: “You look at that game as the one you need to try and win but every team in the World Cup is there on merit.

“You don’t come up against an easy team at all. Credit to Haiti for qualifying as well so it will be a tough game.”

Scotland’s preparation for the World Cup continues at the plush Florida Blue training facility before facing their final warm-up match against Bolivia in New Jersey on Saturday.

They then face Haiti on June 14, 2am UK time. After that they come up against Morocco, who also recorded a 4-0 friendly win over Madagascar on Tuesday, before their final group match against Brazil in Miami.
