The Scottish Women’s Premier League season got under way at the weekend with a mammoth 48 goals scored across the six top-flight fixtures.
The big four of Celtic, Rangers, Glasgow City and Hearts all continued where they left off last season with relentless victories.
SWPL champions Celtic got off to a winning start with a dominant 9-0 victory over Dundee United in Parkhead after unfurling the league flag a week after the men’s team did the same.
Seven different scorers were on target for Elena Sadiku’s side with Saoirse Noonan and Maria McAneny both hitting a brace.
But that wasn’t even in the top two biggest results of the opening weekend with Rangers and Hearts both hitting their opponents for eleven.
On Sunday, Rangers thrashed Aberdeen 11-0 at The Balmoral Stadium, with Katie Wilkinson scoring four, and Hearts recorded an 11-1 hammering over Queen’s Park at Ochilview.
Elsewhere, Glasgow City won 7-0 away at Montrose, Motherwell beat Spartans 5-1 in Edinburgh and Hibs beat Partick Thistle 2-1 in Maryhill.
Celtic were the only home side to take all three points with five away wins on Sunday afternoon.
Jo Potter’s Rangers go top of the table with a goal-difference of +11 after the opening games followed by Hearts in second and Celtic in third.
Despite winning by seven Glasgow City could only get into fourth spot followed by Motherwell in fifth and Hibs in sixth.
