Glasgow City FC have been knocked out of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Germany’s Wolfsburg won the quarter-final match 9-1 at the Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastian, Spain, on Friday night.

Glasgow’s goal came from Lauren Wade at 63mins. Wolfsburg’s goalscorers were Pernille Harder, Ingrid Syrstad Engen and Felicitas Rauch.

Own goals from Glasgow’s Leanne Ross at 79mins and Jenna Clark in stoppage time handed the German side their eighth and ninth in the back of the net.

Glasgow City FC won their 13th league title back in October 2019.

Their clash with two-times Champions League winners Wolfsburg is their second quarter-final appearance, the last in 2015.

Frauen-Bundesliga champions Wolfsburg will next play Barcelona in one of the semi-finals on Tuesday.

In the other quarter-final matches, due to be held on Saturday, Lyon will take on Bayern Munich whilst Arsenal faces Paris Saint-Germain.

The final is set to take place on Sunday, August 30.
