Scottish boxing champ Scott Harrison has made a winning comeback into the ring in his first fight in seven years.

The former world featherweight champion, 42, stopped opponent Paul Peers in the third-round of a closed-door contest in Aberdeen on Saturday night.

Harrison, who was released from jail in 2018 after serving four years for assault, tweeted: “My comeback means everything to me and my kids.

“Thanks and God bless. Onto the next fight.”

Harrison was licensed by the British and Irish Boxing Authority (BIBA) after the British Boxing Board of Control refused to grant him a licence.

Harrison’s last official bout was a WBO European lightweight title loss to Liam Walsh at Wembley Arena in April 2013.

In Saturday night’s fight against Orkney-based PBC International champion Peers, Harrison scored a knockdown with a body shot which ended with the opposite corner throwing in the towel.

On Sunday, Harrison thanked all his supporters, adding: “If you give up in life you’ll never reach your full potential.

“Never give up.”
