SWPL roundup: Rangers beat Dons to stay top, Celtic and Hibs draw

All ten teams were in action in the Scottish Women’s Premier League at the weekend.

There were five games played across the country on Sunday for matchday six in the top-flight.

Rangers defeated Aberdeen 3-0 at Broadwood to stay a point clear at the top of the table thanks to three goals in the last half-hour.

Katie Wilkinson put Leanne Crichton’s side ahead on the hour mark before a Holly Daniel own goal and a Mia McCauley strike in injury-time secured the three points.

Glasgow City remain in second, with a game in hand, after easing to a 5-1 win over Hearts at Petershill Park.

Natalia Wrobel put the home side ahead after ten minutes before Abi Harrison doubled their lead midway through the first half.

Nicole Kozlova hit the brace with goals on either side of the break, and Sofia Maatta completed the rout before Jenna Slattery scored a late consolation for Hearts.

Champions Hibernian scored a late equaliser to draw 1-1 with Celtic in Hamilton.

Natalie Ross’ opener was cancelled out by Kathleen McGovern’s leveller with just over 15 minutes of the game remaining.

That leaves Celtic in third, three points behind Rangers, and Hibs in fifth, six points off the top but with a game in hand.

Elsewhere, Montrose beat bottom side Hamilton 2-0, and Motherwell were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Partick Thistle.
