Stephen Robinson is confident that St Mirren’s results will turn as they prepare to host William Hill Premiership leaders Hearts on Wednesday night.
The Buddies boss was left frustrated after the 3-1 defeat away to Dundee United at the weekend where defender Alex Gogic was sent off for a late tackle on Nikolaj Moeller to concede a converted penalty.
It was a third-successive defeat following losses to Aberdeen and Kilmarnock.
The Paisley side, who finished sixth last season, are currently ninth in the table and sit 16 points behind the Jambos but the Northern Irishman is taking encouragement from performance levels.
He told St Mirren’s official X account: “I hate losing football matches. I never use excuses, even with the officials’ decisions, it was still in our own hands.
“We can’t rely on the officials which has been shown in the last three-and-a-half years but we have to be better at that end product, that final action.
“We are just not hitting the target often enough, even though we are getting in brilliant areas, our build-up play is excellent.
“So yeah, results usually come when the performances are there.
“If the performance levels maintains then it will turn, 100 per cent.
“I am confident in this group of players that it will.
“We are working ever so hard in the background and we have another tough game on Wednesday night. We need to go again.
“We had 400/500 fans at Tannadice that will have seen that, the rest of them wont but they have to stick with this team.
“They are doing everything in their power to win games, they are working hard, they are outworking teams and it is just not going our way at the moment.”
