Scotland international Scott McTominay has signed a new long-term contract at Manchester United.

The 23-year-old, who is a product of the English Premier League side’s youth set-up, will now remain at Old Trafford until 2025 after signing the five-year-extension.

Despite being born and raised in Lancashire the defensive midfielder opted to represent the country of his father’s birth and made his debut under Alex McLeish in 2018.

Since then he has earned 12 full Scotland caps and became an integral part of the Manchester United squad under manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer.

Speaking to ManUtd.com, he said: “Whilst I understand that we all have so many other things to think about at the moment, I’m so happy to sign this contract and play a part in the future ahead for this team.

“I want to thank the manager for the faith he has shown in me and everyone at the club that has helped me to get where I am today.”

McTominay is expected to play a part in Scotland’s Euro 2020 play-off game against Israel as the national side look to qualify for their first major tournament since 1998.
