Rangers manager says incoming Andreas Skov Olsen can “be a weapon” for his side and said he wants more incoming signings in January.

The Ibrox side are closing in on the 26-year-old Wolfsburg winger, who has been linked with a move to Glasgow in the past, on loan.

Rohl says that Skov Olsen, who has only played in eight out of 16 Bundesliga matches so far this season, can be a “weapon ” for his side and gives the team a “different profile”.

“I am not a good poker player,” Rohl said when asked about the incoming Dane. “We are in the process, it looks very positive, as long as it’s not confirmed, I can not tell you too much, so like last time, let’s keep working.

“I have been asking for a left foot on the right side, it gives us a different profile, he had a lot of goals at Brugge. If we can bring him back to his best performance then of course he could be a great loan signing.

“We see the potential in players. If we can bring the best out of him, he is a weapon in his position.”

Skov Olsen is expected to join Rangers on loan.

It comes as midfielder Tochi Chukwuani joined the club on Sunday, while Rangers sealed the signing of left-back Tuur Rommens from Westerlo on Wednesday.

The Ibrox side have also have approached Sunderland over the possibility of loan deals for midfielder Dan Neil and winger Romaine Mundle.

Rohl confirmed he is still actively looking for more January incomings, as his side look to strengthen and push on in the title race, which he thinks could go to the last day.

“We are still looking for some more positions”, he added. “This is not a secret after the injury to Connor, this changed a little also what we need as well.

“Andrew is very on the front foot, I like this. We are very clear what we want. We know we have to strengthen our squad to be competitive in the second half of season.

“I am very happy that Tuur Rommens is here now, he is very strong in the defence and also in the offence. He will bring us a physical side to the team.

“He will not be available for the next ten to 14 days, but it’s good to have him here.

“There is a long way to go we need to make sure our midfield is strong.

“My belief at the moment is that maybe in the last matchday you will have a race between three teams, and you can be top, you can be second, and you can be third. Its nice for the supporters and for us we have to be prepared, we have to work on it. The last weeks we have worked hard, we know the situation.

“Still 16 games to go, we have to deliver again and again, and we can see what we can do.”

Rangers host third-tier visitors, Annan Athletic, in the Scottish Cup fourth round at Ibrox on Friday.

Last season, Rangers were knocked out in the fifth round by Queen’s Park, a result that contributed to the dismissal of then-manager Philippe Clement, and Rohl says he is aware that his side need to put in maximum effort.

He said: “It’s a cup game, every opponent will play with heart and passion, we need to break them down.

“Hopefully, as soon as possible, and then we can create chances and goals. But first, we need to put the same effort in as always.”
