Next Rangers boss: Who are the favourites to replace Russell Martin?

The Ibrox side are on the hunt for a new manager after Martin was relieved of his duties on Sunday night.

Rangers have parted ways with head coach Russell Martin following a draw with Falkirk that left them sitting eighth in the Premiership after seven games.

They have won just one league game this season, with the former Southampton boss recording five wins in 17 matches across all competitions.

The club confirmed on Sunday night that he has been relieved of his duties, meaning the search for a replacement is under way.

With the international break now upon us, Rangers have some time on their hands to decide who will lead them into their next game, which will be against Dundee United at Ibrox on Saturday, October 18.

However, whether it will be an interim boss or if they have someone lined up to take over permanently, they will want to move quickly.

Who are the favourites?

Former manager Steven Gerrard is the early favourite, with the likes of Sean Dyche, Danny Rohl, and ex Rangers player Kevin Muscat, who has been linked with the position in the past, all being mentioned as potential successors to Martin.

Gerrard led Rangers to the Premiership title in an undefeated league season in 2020/21 campaign before departing for Aston Villa the next year.

His most recent role was in Saudi Arabia, but he has been out of work since leaving Al-Ettifaq in January.

Dyche has lots of experience in the English Premier League following a ten-year spell at Burnley and two years at Everton.

He was dismissed by the Toffees earlier this year.
