Interim boss Liam Fox acknowledged Hearts still have plenty of room for improvement as he challenged them to back up their first win of the season with a strong performances away to rampant Aberdeen on Sunday.

The managerless Edinburgh side ground out a 2-1 victory over Dinamo Minsk in the Conference League on Thursday to end a wait of almost five months for a positive result in a competitive match.

Fox hopes it will be a catalyst for improved form but he is aware they face a formidable test on Sunday away to an Aberdeen side who have won all 12 of their games in the William Hill Premiership and the Premier Sports Cup under Jimmy Thelin this season.

“We’re hoping it (the Minsk win) will be a springboard but that’s not a given,” Fox told Hearts TV. “We’ve got a huge game at Pittodrie so our focus shifts to that.

“They’ve had a new manager come in, they’re on a brilliant run of form and they’ve got some really good players so it’s not just a given that we’re now going to pick up results in the league.

“We’re going to have to work extremely hard again, we’re going to have to improve on the ball. But we need to keep the resilience and the mentality we had on Thursday and if we do that we will give ourselves a chance of winning some games.”
