Kilmarnock confirm switch from artificial to grass surface for next season as fans offered chance to ‘pitch in’SNS Group

Kilmarnock have confirmed that they will switch from artificial to grass at Rugby Park next season when new rules come into force.

Fans of the Ayrshire club are being offered the chance to “pitch in” towards the new playing surface by owning their own “virtual plot”.

In a vote held last year, top-flight clubs voted to ban plastic pitches from the start of the 2026/27 campaign.

There are currently three Premiership sides – Kilmarnock, Livingston, and Falkirk – playing on artificial surfaces.

The SPFL confirmed in August that Falkirk had been granted a “one-off additional period of grace”, meaning they can continue on their current pitch for a year after the ban comes in.

Killie will be making the switch at the end of this season, and they revealed on Tuesday that fans will be able to purchase a “virtual square of the pitch” for a £10 donation.

Every purchase will also come with a personalised E-Certificate of Authenticity and the buyer’s name on a special online map celebrating all those who have contributed.

A statement from the club said: “Whether it’s for yourself or the Killie fan in your life, this is your chance to be part of something special while supporting the future of the club.

“Don’t miss your chance to have your name against a piece of Rugby Park.”
