An investigation has been launched after an East Kilbride player was allegedly racially abused during a League Two match.
The South Lanarkshire club was hosting Stranraer at K Park on Saturday when the reported incident took place.
Joao Balde was allegedly targeted by a visiting supporter after he scored East Kilbride’s third goal.
Manager Mick Kennedy said the alleged incident was “disgraceful.”
He wrote: “Delighted to win today, unfortunately marred by Joao Balde being on the end of a racist comment from a Stranraer fan after scoring.
“Disgraceful that racism is part of football in this country”

A statement from East Kilbride read: “East Kilbride Football Club are disappointed by an alleged incident of racial abuse directed towards one of our players at today’s match.
“We will be passing on footage to the relevant authorities. The Club will be making no further comment on the issue at this time.”
Their opponent, Stranraer, confirmed that they were made aware of the incident and it will be “investigated thoroughly.”
The club said: “Stranraer Football Club takes a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of racist and discriminatory behaviour.
“The club has been made aware of an allegation during today’s game at K Park.
“We treat any such reports with the utmost seriousness and will work with East Kilbride FC and the relevant authorities to ensure the incident is investigated thoroughly.”
The incident came less than 24 hours after Bournemouth player Antoine Semenyo was racially abused during the English Premier League’s opener between the Cherries and Liverpool
Police Scotland confirmed they have not been made aware of the incident yet.
