Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland is out for six to eight weeks after suffering a hamstring injury during the league leaders’ Scottish Cup loss.
The forward was replaced just before extra time as Derek McInnes’ men were knocked out on penalties by Falkirk.
Following a scan, the club believe their captain will be out of action for between six and eight weeks.
The Scottish international adds to Hearts’ injury woes after it was previously revealed that Cammy Devlin has also been sidelined with an ankle injury.
The World Cup hopefuls are also likely to miss February’s match against Rangers
Derek McInnes will also be missing Beni Baningime for the game against Celtic after he was shown a red card for studs-up challenge on St Mirren’s Roland Idowu.
