Hamilton Academical Football Club have reported losses of £1.8m for the 2023/24 campaign.

Accounts for the year ending June 2024 were published to Companies House on Friday.

It shows that the club paid £2,597,601 in wages and salaries, and £219,000 was paid towards debts.

The total loss for the financial year rose by more than £1m, from £731,475 in 2023 to £1,850,542 in 2024.

It comes after the troubled club were relegated to League One after being hit by a ten-point deduction in the Championship last season.

And in the summer, they were hit with a season-long transfer ban as a result of failing to pay players on time.

That means they will not be permitted to register new senior players over the course of the season as punishment for issues surrounding wages for players and staff, and also for defaulting on their tax obligations.

However, they will still be allowed to sign young players or amateurs.
