Celtic have left Leigh Griffiths out of their pre-season tour to France amid concerns over his fitness.
The Scotland striker has been left back in Scotland to take part in a personalised programme with coaches at the club’s Lennoxtown training base.
Neil Lennon’s men will take on three Ligue 1 sides in Nice, Lyon and PSG, during their French trip.
It has been reported that the decision to leave Griffiths behind came after he returned back to training “out of condition”.
A spokesman for the club confirmed he would not be on the trip and said: “Leigh is undertaking his own fitness programme along with some other players at Lennoxtown.”
Griffiths, who returned to the team to form an impressive partnership with Odsonne Edouard at the end of last season, will join up again with the squad on their return.
The 29-year-old missed a large part of the previous year after being given an extended break to deal with personal issues.
As well as Edouard, Celtic will still have Vakoun Bayo and Patryk Klimala as attacking options in France.
They play Nice and Lyon on Thursday and Saturday, where they will come up against former player and fan favourite Moussa Dembele, before travelling to Paris to take on the star-studded PSG on Tuesday, July 21.
The Scottish champions will begin the defence of their title and bid for a historic tenth league trophy in a row against Hamilton at Celtic Park on Sunday August 2.
