Footballers deliver food parcels to pensioners in lockdown

Inverness Caley Thistle boss John Robertson and his players have been doing their bit to help pensioners in isolation due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Along with his number two Scott Kellacher and some of the first team squad he has been delivering essential food packages across the city.

It was as part of the TogetherNess campaign launched by the Caley Jags to help vulnerable people in the community who can’t get out for their shopping.

More than 100 households have received packages since the start of the initiative last week after donations from fans, local businesses and families.

The campaign was started with a £1000 donation from the club, with fans bringing along food and toiletries to the Caledonian Stadium over the last week.

The club say they hope to extend the programme to the larger community in the future too and are in discussions with a local food bank.

Caley Jags Boss John Robertson said: “At this very difficult time, everyone at ICTFC believes that we must do our best to make a difference to the lives of our fellow Highland citizens and the football club can be the hub to help make that difference.”
