Hibernian stars past and present have been joined by several well known faces from Scottish football at the funeral of former chairman Rod Petrie.

Head coach David Gray and captain Joe Newell were in attendance alongside the likes of Ayr United management team Scott Brown and Steven Whittaker, who both started their careers at the Leith club.

Barry Ferguson, Alex McLeish, Neil Doncaster and Gordon Strachan were also among the mourners at the service held in Edinburgh on Monday.

Supporters also took the chance to say a final farewell to Petrie, who died last month at the age of 69, as the cortege passed Easter Road.

Petrie was Hibs chairman for over 20 years and served as president of the Scottish Football Association for four years from 2019 until 2023.
He died on August 21 “after a long struggle against cancer”.
Petrie partly owned Hibs in partnership with Sir Tom Farmer, who died in May this year. The chartered accountant had advised Farmer during his rescue of Hibs in 1991 and joined the club board in 1996 before being appointed managing director in 1997.
During his time at the helm, Hibs won their first Scottish Cup in 114 years and also the League Cup, while they were runners-up in major cup finals seven times.
The club also redeveloped Easter Road and built a new training complex in East Lothian.
