Benjamin Nygren is looking forward to experiencing the famous Rajko Mitić Stadium atmosphere when Celtic take on Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League.
The Hoops are in Serbia to get their league phase campaign under way against the former European champions on Wednesday night.
Sweden international Nygren, who moved to Parkhead in the summer, is keen to sample the noise created by the Serbian fans, but insists the Celtic players won’t be intimidated as they play in front of similar every second week when they are at home.
Brendan Rodgers’ side dropped into the continent’s second-tier competition after a penalty shoot-out defeat to Kairat Almaty in Kazakhstan, but Nygren insists they are now fully focused on the future rather than looking back at what could have been.
The 24-year-old midfielder says there is a lot of belief in the squad that they can put early-season disappointments behind them and go on a good run towards an ultimately successful campaign.
He said: “We have a lot of confidence in the squad, we are playing for Celtic so we know how good we are.
“We have maybe had some games when we didn’t do as well as we wanted to, but that is in the past, and our focus is now on the future.
“We won the last two games, and we want to keep winning every game going forward.
“This (Atmospheres like Belgrade) is what you dream of playing in as a kid and why you want to be a footballer, to play in front of these crowds.
“I don’t think anyone wants to play in front of no crowds or quiet crowds. We play at Celtic Park in front of 60,000 every second week, so we know how it is and we are looking forward to it.”
