Celtic increase lead at top as Rangers lose to Hamilton

Celtic have moved 13 points ahead of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership despite dropping points away at Livingston for a second time.

Celtic came back from 2-1 down to snatch a draw in injury time as Rangers went down 1-0 to relegation battlers Hamilton.

Almondvale is the only away ground Celtic have lost at this season and it proved another difficult game for them on Wednesday.

Midfielder Callum McGregor put the champions ahead with a fine strike on the 15 minute mark at the same ground they had already tasted defeat at earlier this season.

But around ten minutes later John Guthrie equalised for the home side after a long throw in caused confusion in Fraser Forster’s area.

Then just a minute after the break Livingston went 2-1 ahead with a goal from Scott Robinson, but a 92nd minute equaliser from Tom Rogic earned the Hoops a point.

After a tight first half at Ibrox Rangers found themselves a goal behind to bottom club Hamilton after a David Mayo goal on the hour mark.

Colombian forward Alfredo Morelos returned to the starting line-up and England forward Jermain Defoe came off the bench for the Gers but their poor league form continued as they failed to capitalise on Celtic dropping points.

The win moves Hamilton back ahead of fellow strugglers Hearts at the bottom of the league.

Meanwhile Aberdeen came from two down at Kilmarnock in the first half to get back into the game with goals from Niall McGinn and Connor McLennan.

And third placed Motherwell took all three points with a 4-1 home win over Ross County as St Johnstone and St Mirren played out a 0-0 draw in Perth.
