Hearts winger Alexandros Kyziridis says it was an “amazing feeling” to beat Celtic on Sunday, but insists full focus is now on their next game.

The 25-year-old winger scored in the 3-1 victory at Tynecastle that puts Derek McInnes’ side eight points clear at the top of the table after an impressive start to the campaign.

However, he is not ready to start talking about a genuine title challenge just yet and says they must take each game as it comes and not get too far ahead of themselves.

Speaking after the game, he said: “It feels amazing, we have lots of feelings, but that is just for today, because we now have to focus on Wednesday’s game.

“I don’t want to talk about that (a title challenge), it was just one game, there are still so many games left so we can only focus on the next one and take it game by game.

“Every goal is important to me, it doesn’t matter if that is against Celtic, Kilmarnock or St Mirren, it is the same feeling that I get each time.

“The most important thing for me is to help the team, if that is with a goal or an assist, or even if I have to run more or defend more, this is my job so that is what I want to do.”

It was a week to remember for Kyziridis and his family, who were also celebrating the birth of his son a few days earlier.

And he admits it was all thanks to his wife that he managed to get some sleep in preparation for the top of the table clash.

He said: “It will be a week I will remember for a long time, it has been a hard week to be honest, but it was by far the best week of my life, because my son arrived on Wednesday, so that makes me a happy man.

“It was quite hard to prepare for the game, but I will get used to it. I managed to sleep quite well thanks to my wife looking after the baby.”
