A Scottish Premiership football manager has referred to his own side as a “jobby team” after a winning match.
Dundee beat Aberdeen 3-2 at home on Saturday.
It was Dundee’s first league win at Pittodrie since May 2004, and boss Steven Pressley challenged his players to keep breaking unwanted records.
He said: “I love throwing statistics at the players – I do it all the time because these should challenge us. I’ve said it before, for a ‘jobby’ team we’ve broken some good statistics, so well done to the players.
SNS Group“We’ve played a lot of away games of late, and it’s a really important win. I think our performances over the last three months have been really high-level, and it wasn’t as high a level today but we found a way to win.
“We’re missing four or five potential starters at present so it says a lot about the group at the moment. I think every player is responding to the challenge. They’re a great group, they really are.”
Aberdeen boss Peter Leven admitted he has to lift his players for the midweek William Hill Premiership trip to Dundee United after the frustrating defeat.
The Dons had impressed early on at Pittodrie and deservedly went in front with Kevin Nisbet credited with the opening goal, although Toyosi Olusanya seemed to touch the ball over the line.
But a penalty conceded by Liam Morrison saw the centre-back sent off and allowed Simon Murray to level, before Joel Cotterill put the visitors in front.
Nisbet’s stunning free-kick levelled the scores again, before Ethan Hamilton’s late 25-yard strike won the visitors the match.
Leven said: “I’ve got to pick the players up.
“I went crazy at them at half-time for some of the decision-making, but they never gave up and at times we looked like the only team that were going to win the game.
“We started doing things we hadn’t done earlier on, and we did better in the second half with a man down.
“We’ll dissect the game and look through it, but I’m frustrated because that’s two goals we’ve scored at home and come away with nothing.”
