Euro 2024: Clarke speaks to media on eve of tournament opener in Munich

Scotland take on the host nation in Munich in the opening game of Euro 2024.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke is speaking to the media on the eve of the Euro 2024 opener against Germany in Munich.

The national team are preparing to take on the hosts at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena as the European Championships get underway.

The game kicks-off a month-long extravaganza of football with all of the continent’s top sides competing to lift the famous trophy.

It is Scotland’s fourth appearance at the tournament as they look to reach the knock-out stages for the first time.

Following the game against Germany they will also take on Switzerland and Hungary with the top two sides in each group guaranteed a place in the last-16.

The best four third placed teams will also reach the knock-out stages.

An estimated 200,000 Scotland fans have made the journey to see the country in its first oversees Euros since 1992.

The game against Germany will be Scotland’s first major tournament game outside of the UK since the World Cup in France away back in 1998.

The hosts will be heavy favourites for the opening game, but after a strong qualifying campaign that saw victories over the likes of Spain and Norway, Steve Clarke’s men can be quietly confident of causing an upset.
