Edinburgh have belief they can get result against 'formidable' Bulls

Confidence is growing in the Edinburgh camp ahead of Saturday's quarter-final.

Sean Everitt says his Edinburgh squad are going into their EPCR Challenge Cup quarter-final with belief after building up some momentum in recent weeks.

South African side The Bulls will be in the Scottish capital to take on Everitt’s side on Saturday with a semi-final place on the line.

Edinburgh have won three of their last four games and the manager revealed that confidence is high as they prepare to host last season’s defeated URC finalists.

Everitt said: “We have managed to build some momentum with a good win over the Dragons and then putting one over the Lions on Friday night, who were a team we struggled against earlier in the campaign.

“So the guys are confident, it’s a massive game against formidable opposition and two-time URC finalists and we are looking forward to the challenge.

“There is belief in the team, we have put ourselves in a good position in the pool stages to earn the right to play at home in the play-offs.

“Fortunately the other games went our way at the weekend as well, so if we get through we will be at home in the semi-final as well.

“You couldn’t ask for a better run if you wished for it.

“I don’t think we are quite there (at top form) yet, but we have had improved performances over the last four weeks.

“Although we didn’t get the result against Treviso in Benetton against a team full of Italian internationals, and without our Scotland internationals, I thought they fared very well although we never got the result.

“Then you look before that and that game against Munster, the tables have turned as far as our form is concerned.

“The players have a better understanding of what we are trying to do and they have taken responsibility and accountability and there is now a consistency that we will need to have if we want to finish where we want to.

“So that’s pleasing from a coaching point of view and we have really improved in areas we have worked on.”
