Dutch side Heerenveen have made a move to sign defender Gustaf Lagerbielke on loan from Celtic.
The Eredivisie club want to bring the 24-year-old Sweden international in on a season-long deal.
Belgian team Mechelen are understood to be among others showing an interest in the out-of-favour centre-half.
Lagerbielke joined the Scottish champions from Elfsborg in his native Sweden last summer but has failed to secure a place in Brendan Rodgers’ starting team.
He now finds himself behind the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Stephen Welsh and Maik Nawrocki in the Parkhead pecking order.
The defender only made ten first-team appearances for the Hoops last season.
He helped them keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 win at Ibrox and scored a late winner in the 2-1 Champions League victory over Feyenoord.
That group stage triumph over the Dutch champions was Celtic’s first non-qualifier victory in Europe’s premier competition since the 3-0 win over Anderlecht in 2017.
He was sent off in his only other appearance in the Champions League when they fell to a 2-0 defeat in Rotterdam.
Heerenveen are currently managed by former Arsenal and Manchester United star Robin Van Persie.
