Dunfermline have announced the signing of former Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama on a short-term contract.
The Kenya international has made the surprise move to East End Park to be reunited with his former Celtic manager Neil Lennon, who was appointed by the Pars last week.
Wanyama will now look to help Lennon and the Championship club in their bid to move clear of the threat of relegation.
Wanyama has been a free agent since leaving CF Montreal in January.
He first moved to Scottish football in 2011, making a move from Belgian side Beerschot and went on to play more than 60 games for Celtic in his two-year stay in Glasgow.
Wanyama won two league titles and a Scottish Cup but also played at the highest level in Europe. He scored the opening goal in Celtic’s famous 2-1 win over Barcelona.
A move to Southampton followed in 2013, and after three years in the Premier League he moved on to Spurs, where the Kenyan was part of the squad that reached the Champions League final in 2019.
The experienced midfielder made the switch to MLS in 2020 and was with Montreal until earlier this year.
His task now is to help his new club climb from the relegation play-off spot to Championship safety.
Dunfermline are currently two points behind eighth-placed Hamilton with a game in hand.
