Dundee United’s Dylan Levitt has spoken of his pride at making the cut for Wales’ World Cup squad.
The midfielder’s performances for the Tannadice club have seen him called up for the flight to Qatar, and he’ll be aiming to get involved as the team face England, USA and Iran in the group stages.
The 21-year-old, who said his family were now working hard to book travel to the tournament to support him, said it had been a moment he had dreamt of.
“It’s amazing,” he said. “I think it’s my childhood dream from a young age, from watching Wales and watching World Cups in general.
“I think I’ve always dreamt about it, being called up for a major tournament for for our nation, there’s nothing better than that.
“I’m proud, very proud for me and my family as well.”
The former Manchester United player has represented his country at every youth level and gone on to pick up 13 caps since making his debut in 2020.
As special as the call-up is for him as an individual, he said it was also a huge occasion for Wales as they end a 64-year wait to return to the tournament.
“Yeah, I’m over the moon, really,” Levitt said. “It’s probably the best news I’ve had in football.
“I think, for the nation it’s massive to be involved in a World Cup. And because it’s been so long, I think it’s just an amazing feeling for the nation in general.
“And yeah, it’s definitely something we’re very much looking forward to.
“Like I say, we’ve made history making it back to the World Cup for such a small nation and every one of the players and staff deserve it.”
