Dundee United have confirmed that top goal-scorer Sam Dalby will remain at the club until the end of the season.
Doubts had arisen after the Wrexham manager refused to rule out recalling the 25-year-old forward from his loan-spell.
Jim Goodwin had earlier stated his hope that Dalby would stay at Tannadice beyond January.
United have now confirmed that to be the case.
A statement posted on their social media accounts on Friday said: “The best in Scotland is sticking around for the fight
“We can confirm Sam Dalby will remain a #DUFC player for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign.”
Dalby is the current top-scorer in the Scottish Premiership with ten goals from 20 league appearances this season.
Speaking to the media on Friday, as his side prepares to take on Rangers on Sunday, Goodwin said: âWe are planning for Sam being here beyond January, obviously Wrexham hold all the cards at the moment because Sam is their player.
âAll I can say is that Sam is loving life in Scotland, he is the top goal-scorer in the league and is enjoying his football and thatâs what is most important for us.
âOf course we want him to stay and I think the big fella wants to stay as well, so we will hopefully have a conclusion to that over the weekend.
âHe is a key player, you want your strikers to be scoring goals and we know if we give the big man opportunities he will put them in the back of the net more often than not.
âItâs been a great loan spell for Sam up to now and we are planning for him to be here beyond the January window to help us continue the success we have had up until now.â
