Dundee Football Club have sacked manager Tony Docherty following a tenth-place finish in the Premiership.

The Dens Park side secured their top-flight status with a final-day victory over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Sunday.

However, in a statement released on Monday, the club said results throughout the campaign “have not met the standards expected”.

Stuart Taylor, Alan Combe, and Graeme Henderson, members of Docherty’s coaching staff, have also all been relieved of their duties.

The statement continued: “The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Tony, Stuart, Alan and Graeme for all of the work they have put into the club during their time at Dundee FC. We wish them all the best for the future.

“The club intends at this juncture to restructure the football department, and the process to appoint a new management team begins immediately.”

After spells working as assistant boss to Derek McInnes at Aberdeen and then Kilmarnock, Docherty became a manager in his own right for the first time when he was appointed at Dundee in 2023.

In his first season, he led the club to a top-six finish in the Premiership, but they have struggled at times this campaign and finished four points ahead of the relegation play-offs and nine above bottom side St Johnstone.
