Tony Docherty revealed Dundee’s injury list is getting shorter ahead of Saturday’s visit to Celtic Park in the Premiership.

The Taysiders have been depleted in recent weeks and had to dig deep to beat near-neighbours Dundee United 1-0 in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup fourth round on Monday night, setting up a tie with Airdrie in the next round.

Boss Docherty said: “No fresh injury concerns from the other night, in fact the opposite of that.

“Josh Mulligan returned to training today (Thursday) and we had Ziyad Larkeche and Jordan McGhee (both hamstring) and Joe Shaughnessy (knee) involved in training today.

“So very good news that we are strengthening the squad at a really important stage of the season.

“Josh, if he comes through training, he will be available, the other three are not quite ready yet but it’s just good to have them back training with the squad.”

Docherty also revealed that Victor Lopez, the Mexico Under-23 midfielder who signed a year-long loan deal from Mexican top-flight side Queretaro, had also joined in training.

The 21-year-old came through the youth ranks at Monterrey – the club with which Dundee recently formed a strategic partnership – and has spent the first half of this season with Queretaro.

Docherty said: “Victor’s visa has been cleared and we are just waiting on international clearance.

“He joined the squad today and made a real impression, not just on the staff but on the players as well.

“He’s a very talented, left-sided, technical player, he handles the ball really well.

“Certainly in the little bit that the staff and players have seen today, he made a good impression.”
